Some people have always had a fascination with little things - they are naturally drawn to miniatures. Others may want to provide the creative play that dollhouses can provide for their children. Imaginations can soar with fantasy themes, nostalgic roomboxes, historical re-creations, elaborate gardens, or any aspect of our God-given world. Crafters, collectors, quilters, woodworkers, and decorators have long enjoyed the challenge of miniatures.
Illness, loss of a loved one, loneliness or physical disabilities may be eased through involvement in miniatures. Shifting the mental focus onto a project can reduce the stress & pain for many people. Therapists, spouse abuse centers, girls' clubs, preschools & more have used the "play therapy" of miniatures to uncover & help treat physical & emotional abuses of children in a non-threatening way. Our shop & local club have donated houses, time, & expertise to needs in our community and beyond.
Space for this hobby is as varied as the project itself. From a shoebox to a semi-truck, miniature creations range from one inside a lipstick tube to the replica of the Whitehouse which fits in a semi & has been displayed internationally. Common scales range from 1/144, 1/4", 1/2", and 1"to a foot. Most beginners start with 1" to a foot but the size of the houses & roomboxes vary tremendously. Mini Mansions tries to help its' customers find the area which best fits their goals.
